Full Spectrum CBD vs. Broad Spectrum CBD vs. Isolate Explained

Intro

So what’s the difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD oil? And what about CBD isolate?

It can all be a bit confusing but fear not, we’ve got you covered! This guide will explain the differences, pros, and cons in plain English.

Want to skip the confusion and start shopping for CBD products with confidence? Keep reading for everything you need to know about full-spectrum CBD vs broad-spectrum CBD vs CBD isolate products.

Quick Summary

Full spectrum hemp extract that contains all cannabinoids and terpenes, including less than 0.3% THC, is called full spectrum hemp extract. It retains the most natural components from the raw hemp plant.

Broad spectrum hemp extract that contains all cannabinoids and terpenes, but has zero THC, is called broad spectrum hemp extract. It retains most natural components from the raw hemp plant, but the THC is completely removed.

Both full spectrum and broad spectrum CBD products are required to contain less than 0.3% THC by law in the U.S. by the way. So neither CBD products can get you high and are both legal.

CBD isolate is a more processed compound that contains only CBD and nothing else. It sounds pure at first but has downsides. More on this later.

Full Spectrum CBD

Compared to other CBD products, full-spectrum CBD is close to nature and relatively unprocessed. That means full-spectrum CBD products contain a very small amount of THC (0.3% or less, making it legal nationwide) and many other cannabinoids (i.e. CBG, CBC, etc.), as well as other beneficial ingredients from the hemp plant like terpenes.

Terpenes are natural oils found in hemp. They give CBD oil its amazing flavor and scent, among many other benefits.

Now, when all these compounds come mixed together in your CBD products, they work in harmony to create better overall effects. All of these natural compounds working together and creating more benefits is known as the Entourage Effect.

Keeping our CBD as close as possible to nature is very important to us and that’s why Jupiter is an organic full spectrum CBD oil.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD products are somewhat similar to full spectrum, but go through one more step of processing. This step completely removes all traces of THC. Broad-spectrum CBD products can still contain terpenes and other cannabinoids.

Since the powerful results of the entourage effect have been primarily studied in the interaction of CBD and THC, it’s unclear how much of an entourage effect and other related benefits broad spectrum CBD oils offer. They’re not necessarily lower quality, but they are more processed.

Surprisingly, even though broad spectrum products are available with “zero THC” they still may contain trace amounts of THC, so please use discretion if you’re worried about drug tests.

CBD Isolate

CBD isolate is as close to 100% pure CBD as you can get. Isolate products don’t contain any other plant materials or cannabinoids, including THC. But that also means CBD isolates are highly processed and unable to provide the entourage effect.

You’ll usually find CBD isolate in powder or liquid form and in cheaper products.

We don’t think CBD isolate is a quality ingredient that offers optimal results, so we never use isolates in any of our products.

What Type of CBD Should You Use?

By now, you should be ready to discover your perfect CBD product with confidence. Yet you may still wonder: isn’t there a single, best CBD product for a healthy, happy lifestyle?

The answer? It depends.

When it comes to choosing the right CBD product, every person is different. The same product may affect you differently than it does your friends or even your family members. But that doesn’t mean you should give up on the search for your perfect CBD product.

We strongly believe that staying as close as possible to nature and offering the entire spectrum of beneficial compounds and cannabinoids leads to the best possible effects. That’s why Jupiter products contain organic full spectrum hemp extracts.

So personally, we would recommend trying organic full spectrum CBD or broad spectrum CBD products and skipping CBD isolate.
